Holiday Celebration 2011

Plymouth’s Hometown Holiday Celebration
December 2nd - 4th Events Listing (click here)

Invite your friends and relatives to come for a visit on the weekend of Dec 3th to see how Plymouth does Celebrations! Plymouth Rotary is again proud to sponsor this long-time Holiday tradition.

It’s going to be a fun-filled weekend. Friday, PSU’s Operating Staff begins its 4th Annual Festival of Trees, with beautifully decorated trees on display for viewing at the Senior Center. For Festival of Trees information, call Brenda Clayton at 535-2847 or e-mail bclayton@plymouth.edu.

This year, “Shop Local” businesses are sponsoring a month-long "Extravaganza" and a special evening with free child-care at the Senior center Friday December 2nd. Keep your eye out for "Extravaganza" details in the local newspapers.

The centerpiece of the Celebration is The Parade at 5 PM Saturday on December 3rd. It’s a great family outing. Folks come early to meet their neighbors, enjoy a Christmas music sing-a-long, look at the lights, and decorate cookies with the PSU.

Elves on the Common, check out your favorite stores and enjoy a free hot chocolate at Main Street banks. The parade always bustles with brightly lit floats, high school bands, a color guard, business entries, decorated walking groups, decked out animals, dance troupes and, of course, Santa.

After the parade, Santa will visit with the kids at the Senior Center. For the third year, Alex Ray and the Rotarians will be hosting a “Chill-buster” Bonfire and Barbeque on Green Street across from the Senior Center. And then… Fireworks!! What a great way to end the evening!

On Sunday, back by popular demand, skate for free with Santa at the new PSU ice arena from 1-3 PM. Santa will be on the ice for visiting and for free photographs. Come with or without skates. Free skates are available.

There’s still time to register your business or organization to have an entry in the parade. Last chance is Friday the 18th in person at the mandatory safety meeting, 6:00PM, Pease Public Library.
