Arts and Theater
Plymouth, New Hampshire is a region of diversity and talent. Certainly Plymouth State University offers many cultural advantages. But a further truth is that the Plymouth region has a community of creative artists who are nurtured by and give nourishment to the surrounding towns. Fine arts and craftspeople, writers, painters, sculptors, scholars, musicians, inventors, graphic artists, photographers, and textile designers are among the quiet contributors to our cultural wealth.
Silver Center for the Arts
Silver Center for the Arts opened in the fall of 1992, as a regional arts center, as well as a teaching facility for music, theater and dance students. The Silver Series, a co-production of the Silver Center for the Arts, the Student Senate of the University presents a full schedule of world renowned artists during the academic year. Flying Monkey Movie House & Performance Center
The former Plymouth Theatre on Main Street in downtown Plymouth was recently purchased and renovated by Alex Ray of the Common Man Family of Restaurants. The extensive renovations of Aptil, 2010 restored the theater to its glory days in the 1920's with a new twist; dining and a full bar. The Flying Monkey is now host to performances ranging from live bands and stand up comedians to silent movies and favorite films.
There are many more cultural experiences to take advantage of in our surrounding communities, as well.
